Artists & Outlaws is counseling and coaching practice founded by Susan Bowling, a Recovery Advocate and Case Manager in Los Angeles. Artists & Outlaws refers to the 2 groups that Susan works with most - people involved in the criminal justice system and people involved in the arts. 

After many years working in criminal justice and traditional addiction rehabilitation settings, Susan realized there was a large community of unserved people who use alcohol and other drugs and who are not invited into recovery settings because they have not chosen or agreed to remain "abstinent". Artists & Outlaws strives to bring services to everyone  who seeks to improve  their life without adhering to an abstinence-only lifestyle.  

It's not just about reducing harm, though that is of vital importance today. It is about creating and sustaining a life  not defined or controlled by the use of substances. It's about disrupting your habits and allowing  other areas and interests in your life to come forward. For some people it is about changing the way they use, for others it's about restoring healthful activities. For some it is away to connect and discuss their use of substances objectively and  within the context of their lives without judgment or stigma.
